Ali, Sabina ; Holý, Jiří (advisor) ; Merhaut, Luboš (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the prose of Josef Bor, who wrote two literary works; The Abandoned Doll and The Terezin Requiem. In The Abandoned Doll he tried to write out his experiences from the Second World War. The Terezin Requiem then tells a story based on an authentic event, about how the Czech conductor Rafael Schächter prepared a performance of Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem in the Terezin ghetto. The aim of this thesis is to analyze both of these prose. The work does not neglect the wider context of the creation of the works, because in order to understand them, it is necessary to approach the life in the Terezin Ghetto, especially the cultural one, which is essential especially for the Terezin Requiem. Key words: Requiem, Josef Bor, Terezin, holocaust, prose, Jews, Abandoned doll, The Terezin Requiem
